DIRECTORS AND STAFF

 

Mr. ZamborskyKevin Zamborsky, Director of Bands A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Kevin Zamborsky is in his sixth year of teaching at Stillwater High School. His current duties include teaching the beginning trumpets, the seventh grade brass, the high school Wind Ensemble, and marching band. Mr. Zamborsky received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois in 1997, and his Masters Degree in Conducting from Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York in 2004. From 1997 to 2002, Mr. Zamborsky was the Director of Bands at Nottoway Middle and Intermediate Schools and the Associate Director of Bands at Nottoway High School in Nottoway, Virginia. Groups under his direction have received numerous Superior ratings, and have performed in Missouri, Georgia, Florida, Washington, D.C., New York, and Paris, France. In 2007, Mr. Zamborsky conducted the Stillwater High School Wind Ensemble in performances at the Oklahoma Music Educators Association state convention and at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Mr. Zamborsky has composed and arranged music and written marching drill for schools throughout the country. He teaches private French horn lessons and works as a clinician for Superior Marching Band Enterprises. He was the Nottoway Middle School and Nottoway County Teacher of the Year in 2000 and was the Florida Keys Council of the Arts Artist-in-Residence in 2003. Professional memberships include the Oklahoma Music Educators Association, Oklahoma Bandmasters’ Association, Phi Beta Mu, Phi Mu Alpha, and the North Central Directors Association. Mr. Zamborsky lives in Stillwater with his wife, Lindy, their five-year-old son, Connor, and their four-year-old daughter, Emma.

Mrs. BovenschenTricia Bovenschen, Assistant Director of Bands Tricia Bovenschen graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Oklahoma State University in 1992. She taught public school music in Ponca City and Sapulpa before coming to Stillwater in the fall of 1998. Tricia's present teaching duties include beginning low brass and percussion classes, the 7th grade band, and the high school Concert Band. Over the years, her bands have received Outstanding Achievement Awards as well as Sweepstakes. Other notable accomplishments include several performances of her percussion ensembles at the OMEA and the Oklahoma PAS conventions. Professional memberships include the Oklahoma Music Educators Association, Phi Beta Mu, Sigma Alpha Iota, Tau Beta Sigma, and the North Central Directors Association. Mrs. Bovenschen lives in Stillwater with her husband, Wayne, their eight-year-old, Bailey, and twin five-year-olds, Collin and Brendan.

Mrs. EllisonEileen Ellison, Assistant Director of Bands Eileen Ellison has been with the Instrumental Music staff at Stillwater High School for 21 years. She teaches 6th grade beginner flute and reed classes and 7th grade woodwind class at Stillwater Middle School, is the 8th grade band director at Stillwater Junior High School, and is an assistant band director at Stillwater High School. Mrs. Ellison received a Bachelor of Music Education degree with honors from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1977. Mrs. Ellison has 31 years of band directing experience, with prior experience at Perry High School and Pawnee High School. Groups under her direction have consistently received Superior ratings and have earned the OSSAA Outstanding Achievement Award. Mrs. Ellison received the Oklahoma ASBDA Stanbury Outstanding Young Band director Award in 1989. She is on the faculty of the University of Arkansas Junior High Band Camp, and has been named Who's Who Among American Teachers. Mrs. Ellison is active as a clinician, adjudicator, and private flute instructor. Professional memberships include the Oklahoma Music Educators Association, Oklahoma Bandmasters Association, Phi Beta Mu and North Central Directors Association. She resides in Pawnee with husband, David, and has two children, Ryan, 24, and Ashley, 23.

Nicole Holderman, Color Guard Instructor Nicole Holderman is a recent graduate of Oklahoma State University and a graduate of Owasso High School. She has marched for four seasons with the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps, serving as captain the past two seasons and has worked with the SHS Color Guard for three years.

Stevie Ellis , Assistant Color Guard Instructor Stevie Ellis is a senior at Oklahoma State University and is a graduate of Owasso High School. She is currently in her first year working with the SHS Color Guard.

Kim Green, Percussion Instructor Kim Green is a junior music education major at Oklahoma State University. She is in her second year working with the SHS Percussion.

Wayne Bovenschen, Percussion Arranger Wayne Bovenschen is the Professor of Percussion at Oklahoma State University. He graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education. He arranges music for the OSU Cowboy Marching Band and several high school drum lines. He lives in Stillwater with his wife, Tricia, and their three children.
